it's really saddening to see images & videos of the destruction that the tsunami caused. the thousands of decomposing bodies lying on streets...

Can u imagine the stench of dead bodies in the hot sun on the streets? They're being mass buried with no loved ones to send them off, no proper burial...Shoved into graves by bulldozers... The bodies aren't even identified, their relatives prob wouldn't even know where the bodies are being buried... How abt the contaminated water in the lakes? The lack of shelter and hot solid food? The loss of your loved ones?

i'm happy to see that there're many singaporeans helping out but there's one thing i would like to comment. UOB is donating $200,000... only... meanwhile, HSBC pledged $1 million dollars... hello?? Businessmen in S'pore are bloody stingy!

Japan commited a fund of US$30 million. Australia pledged $35 million aussies. Singapore $2 m... wth?

Being the top 20 richest nation in the world, i'm sure the government could give more right? or maybe the government relies too much on the public's donations... We all know that singaporeans are a generous & compassion lot. I'm sure the public can easily raise more than $2 million... tt's more that what our Government offered...

I mean, being a neighbour to those affected Asian countries, i would like to see more assistance coming from our Government to the affected countries. I'm sure if one day, Singapore faces a diaster (oh well, there prob wouldn't be a Singapore left...), we would expect our neighbours to help right? And here we are, right next to Thailand & Indonesia, we're offering only $2 million... Our SAF are being deployed to Phuket and Aceh, but we all know too well why they're heading to Phuket, to search for e missing Singaporeans... Well, at least we loan them our helicopters for S&R operations.

My prayers goes out to all of the dead, victims, medical staff, operation staff, volunteers, tourist & those who in one way or another are affected by the Asian Tsunami.
