Day 1 - BMTC

Update!

Day 1 of Tekong life

BMTC School 1 --> Jaguar Company --> Platoon 2 --> Section 3

1215-1230 was the time to reach Pasir Ris Bus interchange where we took a bus to the jetty. Upon arrival at the jetty, we met CY : ) Took a ferry down to Tekong and once there, Enlistees
and Parents were separated from each other.
Toured around the J-Block, with brief introductions on their sleeping quarters, their bunk beds, the recreation room they have (which they can probably only enter once a week, with the permission of their sergeants), and the stuff the SAF would assign to them (e.g. combat boots, running shoes, duffel bag, attire, food rations, etc).
After finding out which Platoon he'd be in, his parents chatted with his respective COs, PCs, Section Leader while the 2 girls sat aside. We were then led to the Auditorium to witness the opening (swearing-in) ceremony. Thereafter, we were joined by jm for a food-tasting session (Nasi Lemak).
But within 30 mins of time together, they started to chase us away from the island at 4pm. WHAT?! Rahh... Currently, jm is slowly adjusting to life as an enlistee. Wish him well people! Drop him happy SMSes if possible to cheer him up!

2200: HE CALLED!! They were just released into their bunks to wash up, settle down and call their family and loved ones. I could sense loneliness and missing in his voice, poor boy... He still had stuff to settle so it was a short chat.

2300: Supposed lights out but he couldn't sleep. Awww... Needs alot of getting used to, especially when surrounded by strangers and sharing a room with 12 others is not an easy transition from your very own room at home.

2335: Managed to get him to sleep and off his phone.

We will miss him dearly...

However, the date to look forward to is 29th June 2007!
BOOK OUT DAY!

Signing off... Love, Vanessa.
